Figuring out what you’re going to do after high school can be overwhelming. There are steps you can take early on, and along the way, to help relieve some of that stress and anxiety.

Years before you start filling out applications for college or trade schools, we’ll show you how to get to know yourself better as a person and as a learner – an important, but often-overlooked, step in determining your post-secondary path.

We’ll help with actions you can – and should – be taking in your high school years to ensure that you will have the best application for you when the time comes. Then, once you’ve decided on your pathway, we’ll help you navigate the application process, from the college essay to financial aid and scholarships to demonstrated interest.

We created these Success Tracks to arm students and families with knowledge and resources that will translate into a less stressful college/career search and application process.

There are so many questions and unknowns: What classes should I be taking in high school? Should I re-take the SATs? Should I bother applying to a college that costs $70,000+ a year?

There are a myriad of resources out there that can help – we want to make it easier and be your one-stop shop for all the basics.

High school counselors have multiple responsibilities and limited time, yet they are an invaluable resource as you make your post-secondary plan. In this session, we’ll talk about ways to make the most of your time with your school counselor throughout your high school career.

It can be overwhelming to think about what you want to do after high school. This session encourages you to take a step back and focus on who you are first – What do you like to do? Even in your first year of high school, the choices you make can affect your post-secondary options. In this session, we talk about taking advantage of your school’s and your community’s offerings so that you can have a rewarding and interesting high school career that also sets you up for college admissions success. This session explores two very important pieces of the college application – letters of recommendation and the college essay or personal statement. We discuss whom to ask for those letters and how and when to get started writing (or at least brainstorming ideas for…) your essay.

From creating a diverse college list to visiting campuses and cleaning up your social media, this session provides some general tips about the post-secondary search and recruitment process for you to think about before you start the application process.
